The CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars initiative offers financing and assistance to scholars so they can expand their networks of collaborators and acquire critical leadership skills.
Global Scholars are researchers from anywhere in the world who have held their first academic post during the past five years.
The organization has been directed by Alan Bernstein, a renowned scientist and inspirational figure, since 2012.
In addition to founding Canada’s official financing body for medical research, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Dr. Bernstein is renowned for his work on cancer.
He was nominated to Canada’s Vaccine Task Force during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide guidance to the Canadian government on COVID-19 vaccine development, testing, and distribution.
