University of Guelph Canada Scholarships for International Students (Fully Funded) for 2021

There is an opening for a two-year MSc degree in the Department of Pathobiology beginning on May 1 or Sept 1, 2021. Under the MSc project, a series of challenge trials will be conducted in the OVC Animal Isolation Facility to optimize an infection model of post-weaning E. coll diarrhea.

Particularly, the association of genetic influences and infectious dose with the severity of diarrhea, bacterial shedding, and histological changes in pigs challenged with enterotoxigenic E. coli will be investigated.

We will then use the optimized infection model to study new interventions for the treatment of post-weaning E. coli infection (ex. probiotics). coll diarrhea.
