Criteria for Scholarships
Additionally to demonstrating extraordinary leadership skills, the ability to anticipate and act on trends and changes in their context, strong intellectual aptitude, and exceptional character, candidates must meet the following criteria.
- You must hold an undergraduate degree.
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 28.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
This program gathers a diverse group of young leaders from all over the world to work together on a shared mission.
Process of selection
A rigorous and thorough selection process is used to identify the most promising young leaders from around the world. It is expected that those selected will be able to understand and contribute effectively to the program so that it may evolve to suit the evolving needs of a world that is rapidly changing.

You do not need to complete the online application in one sitting; you can access, save, and continue working on the application as needed before submitting it.

You must scan and upload official transcripts for all degree-granting postsecondary education institutions attended.
- Three letters of recommendation
Referees should have a deep knowledge of you and be able to give specific examples from their direct experience working with you about your intellectual abilities, personal qualities, and leadership potential.

The supporting documents listed here are required. We strongly discourage applicants from submitting any supplemental materials that are not required, such as portfolios, writing samples, additional recommendations, etc. These documents won’t be shared with the Review Committee.
- Review and interview of applications
An international panel of business, government and academic leaders analyzes applications. In late October and early November, a selected number of candidates are invited for an interview with an international panel of leaders from a variety of backgrounds. By bringing their leadership experience to bear, these interviewers identify a cohort of highly accomplished candidates whose paths to leadership will be enhanced by an introduction to China and its global role.
